All About Gratefulness

All About Gratefulness

Early this morning while sipping my cup of our Kivu Lake Coffee the rain was gently falling and I looked into the darkness, I heard the crickets chirping, I heard the creek bubbling and I was GRATEFULL.

Grateful for the stillness, grateful for the rain, grateful for our new puppy running around the yard. In 1936, the whimsical observer of life, GK Chesterton said“When it comes to life the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude.”—G. K. Chesterton

It seems we often focus on what we don’t have rather than being grateful for what we do have.  and it seems that the more we focus on what we do not have the less we are grateful for what we do have.

Worry and anxiety often occur because we invest our energy and emotion in what we don’t have.

Thankfulness or gratitude not only feels good, it actually makes our body’s better.  Joe Dispenza led a study and showed that whereas stress increased cortisol that increases poor cell functioning, Gratitude produced IgA, a protein that is responsible for our body’s supreme immune system.

Being grateful increases your health!

I am grateful today for the gentle rain, the fall colors, rising early, my coffee and for YOU.  Without you we would not have Land of a Thousand Hills.   You are our partner and because of you we together can make a difference in thousands of coffee farmer’s lives.  As you sip your morning cup what are you grateful for? Take time today and give thanks

In closing, here's another quote from Chesterton. Be grateful today, do good and experience a double wonder!

- Jonathan

“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.”—G. K. Chesterton
